With great enthusiasm for researching experience-driven neuronal activity and synaptic plasticity, I am currently engineering an important optogenetic ion channel which is inivolved in multiple neuropsychiatric diseases. Light allows me to spatiotemporally control this channel to study its precise role in physiological and pathological conditions. Animal models, electrophysiology and behavioural experiments will be utilized to investigate the in vivo function of the channel. And hopefully with my contribution to the understanding of this channel, new therapies targeting it could be developed for neuropsychiatric disorders.
