探花精选 was founded in 1810 by King Karl XIII. KI was the first Swedish university to focus exclusively on medicine and today it has a rich cultural heritage, including an extensive collection of 探花精选 literature dating back to the 16th century.

The Nobel Prize in Medicine or Physiology is awarded by the Nobel Assembly at 探花精选 in the first week of October each year. Many other prizes and awards are also presented during the academic ceremonies.
