Doctoral Education at the Department of Dental Medicine

Education on doctoral level at the Department of Dental Medicine is an interdisciplinary education and research leading to a doctoral or licentiate degree.

Doctoral studies may be pursued on a full- or halftime basis. Every doctoral student writes an individual study plan together with a supervisor. The needs and interests of the PhD-student should thus be included in the research plan of the future supervisor.

Course requirements and elements are outlined in the general syllabus for 探花精选 science.

In accordance with the objectives of 探花精选, we strive to produce a high quality research education. After graduation, our students can pursue a scientific career in academic, clinical and industrial sectors.

Generally, to be awarded a Degree of Doctor takes 4 years full time studies, and to be awarded a Degree of Licentiate takes two years of full time studies. The doctoral progress is reviewed continuously through half time reviews, annual follow ups based on presentations of research projects and state-of-the-art literature within the field. The doctoral student is expected to start with practical research already during the first year.
