About me

  • I am a quantitative and systems microscopy researcher with 15+ years of interdisciplinary biomedicine research experience. My career goal is to improve our understanding of human health with advanced microscopy and data interpretation tools.

Research

  • My research focuses on deciphering the cell migration machinery with advanced quantitative and systems microscopy strategies. 

  • By combining the two start-of-the-art high-resolution spatiotemporal quantitative microscopy methods (F枚rster resonance energy transfer (FRET) - based biosensor and traction force microscopy (TFM)), I for the first time established the unique state-of-the-art platform for simultaneous quantification of the oscillations of signaling activity, mechanical property (local traction force of the cell), and membrane movement during cell migration at submicron resolution. I have also defined the role of local Rac1-GTP level oscillation in controlling critical dynamics of the local membrane velocity and local traction force.

    My research also includes the standardization and reproducibility of the fluorescence microscopy field. Together with several world-leading labs in the cell migration field, we have identified significant technical variability among laboratories and demonstrated the usefulness of the batch effect removal method in overcoming it. This provides fundamental information and tools for reuse and meta-analysis of the image data from different sources.
