I graduated in Statistics in 1998 and obtained my PhD in Statistical Methodology for Scientific Research in 2004 at the Department of Statistics of the University of Bologna (Italy), following collaborations respectively with the University of Geneva (Switzerland) and the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (Rostock, Germany). There, I also commenced my research activity in Biostatistics and Biodemography, alongside teaching at graduate level. Over the years, I have worked in various research areas, ranging from Population Genetics to statistical analysis and modeling of high-throughput data (genetic and proteomic microarray, WES sequencing), as well as Demography and Epidemiology. During my postdoctoral research, I held several national and international affiliations or collaborations as a visiting researcher, including with the Universities of Ferrara, Rimini, Folkhälsomyndigheten (Solna, Sweden), the Karolinska Institute and Hospital, and the National Institute of Health (NIH, Bethesda, USA).

Since 2010, I have been a part of LabMed, where, starting from 2017, I focused my activities on Cancer Epidemiology, particularly by analyzing epidemiological and survival data in patients receiving stem-cell transplantation and cell immunotherapy treatments, within the group of Professor Stephan Mielke. This research is supported by my role as a Statistician in the Department of Cell Therapy and Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplantation (CAST) at Karolinska Hospital in Huddinge, where I am one of the collaborators in the patients’ transplant database for the Stockholm Center of the European Bone Marrow Transplant Association (EBMT). Here I am responsible for scientific reports and statistical analyses, both in person and by supervising and following students and visiting researchers.

In the last years, I have added to this primary activity the role of Biostatistician for the Center for Bioinformatics and Biostatistics (CBB) at the Karolinska Institute, where I serve as a mentor for PhD students and researchers, organize biostatistical seminars and workshops, and act as a teacher in Biostatistics across various departments at the Karolinska Institute and Hospital.
