About me

  • I am a statistician having worked in 探花精选 research in different fields and roles since 2006. With a PhD degree in mathematical statistics and a strong interest in 探花精选 applications, I have throughout my work life been enjoying collaborations in multidisciplinary teams. Applications have spanned over many disease areas and included randomized clinical trials as well as observational studies, within the private sector and academia.

Since September 2022 I work at the Clinical Epidemiology Division, Department of Medicine Solna, where I am a member of Elizabeth Arkema鈥檚 research group. The research in this group focuses on the causes and consequences of chronic inflammatory diseases, including sarcoidosis, systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis. My work in this group focuses on making the best use of Swedish population-based registers, and epidemiological and statistical methods to answer questions regarding risk factors and outcomes associated with these diseases.

Part of my time I also work with CLINICUM which is a collaborative effort between 探花精选 and Region Stockholm aiming to facilitate clinical and translational studies in all domains of 探花精选 research (). Currently, I鈥檓 a member of the project team with the role as coordinator for methodological support within a network of analytic experts. In parallel, I鈥檓 the director for CLINICUM Solna, which is one of the nodes linked to CLINICUM and embedded within the Clinical Epidemiology Division.

    Education
Ph.D. in mathematical statistics, Department of Mathematics, Stockholm University (2006)

Thesis Latent variable models for longitudinal twin data with focus on the development of novel statistical methods, anchored and motivated by methodological challenges in the analysis of register-based studies at the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, 探花精选.

Master in mathematical statistics, Department of Mathematics, Stockholm University (2001)

Teaching

  • PhD supervision

Viet Ngoc Nguyen is a PhD student in Elizabeth Arkema's group at the Clinical Epidemiology Division, Department of Medicine Solna since 2022. His projects aim to assess the risks of adverse outcomes, including birth defects, cardiomyopathy, heart failure, and cancer, associated with systemic lupus erythematosus, sarcoidosis and their treatments.
