About me

  • I am a RN with a broad interest in international migration and international public health. I am intrigued by exploring how evidence-based methods can be feasibly applied and continuously improved to enhance healthcare systems and outcomes.

My PhD-project evaluates the implementation of interventions focused on improving assessment and management of newly arrived migrants' mental health in primary health care. In particular, the project consider the implementation process and how factors related to the context might influence the extent of which the interventions are implemented according to plan. The Phd-projects involves two interventions: (i) a screening procedure for early detection of mental health problems for asylum seekers and other newly arrived migrants, and (ii) a multimodal community intervention aiming to increase mental healthcare seeking among newly arrived minors (0-17 y), part of the project "Tidiga Insatser för Nyanlända Barn" (TINA)/"Breaking barriers for care", where I collaborate with /en/research/research-areas-centres-and-networks/research-groups/epidemiology-of-psychiatric-conditions-substance-use-and-social-environment-epicss-christina-dalmans-research-group/psychiatric-morbidity-and-mortality-substance-abuse-among-migrants-and

Research

  • My research interests span from migration and health to implementation science, with a focus on how research can be translated into practice. I am particularly interested in finding ways to bridge barriers to healthcare access for underserved groups, while ensuring that interventions and evidence-based methods are integrated effectively to benefit both staff and patients.

Teaching

  • Transcultural Centre in Stockholm (2018-2020), teaching healthcare staff about the implications of migration on health and access to care.

My teaching roles during my doctoral education:
Uppsala University, I've been involved in the "Global Medicine" course since 2021, for nursing and medicine students. The course covers migration, its health consequences, and access to healthcare.
    2021-2022:
Red Cross University, I in the Specialist Nursing Programme in Psychiatric Care, a 60-credit course focused on migration, mental health impacts, and healthcare accessibility.
