Jag är teoretisk och matematisk fysiker, expert på teorin för kvantmekaniska kollisioner och spektroskopi. Den teori jag arbetar med beskriver materians djupaste struktur och ger bidrag till tvärvetenskapliga forskningsområden, som medicin och biologi.
Jag har utvecklat metoder som bygger på kvantmekaniska teorier för att lösa problem vid diagnostik med magnetisk resonanstomografi och spektroskopi. Jag använder också teorier från kvantfysiken för att förbättra signal och bildkvalitet vid kärnmagnetisk resonansspektroskopi.
Forskningsbeskrivning
Inom radioterapi med lätta joner, baseras expertisen av den svenska gruppen under ledning av Professor Belkic vid institutionen för onkologi-patologi, ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡, pÃ¥ sin erfarenhet inom teorin högenergi oelastiska jon-atom och jon-molekyl kollisioner. Dom omfattar tre huvudkanaler för energiförluster genom jonisering, elektroninfÃ¥ngande och excitation. Detta utgör ett av de viktigaste nya bidrag till allt mer noggranna och pÃ¥litliga tvärsnitt som behövs för Monte Carlo simuleringar, i synnerhet vid användning av flerladdade lätta joner för strÃ¥lbehandling av patienter med djupt belägna tumörer.
Magnetresonanstomografi (MRT) är ovärderlig för cancerdiagnostisering. Magnetresonansspektroskopi (MRS) kan förbättra den diagnostiska noggrannheten i MRT genom att öka dess specificitet. Tack vare MRS kan metaboliter upptäckas, vilket underlättar karaktärisering av cancer. För att optimera MRS krävs avancerade signalbehandlingsmetoder. Målet är att förbättra cancerdiagnostik genom kvantitativ identifiering av nyckelmetaboliter, vilka inte går att upptäcka med dagens standard: Fourier-transformen (FFT). Den nya metoden, Padé-transformen (FPT), ger ett bättre resultat än FTT. FPT är väletablerad genom intensiv undersökning. Nu planerar vi att fullgöra omfattande validering, så att Padé-baserad MRS i en nära framtid kan utgöra ett standardredskap inom onkologi. Med Padé-optimiserad MRS är det möjligt att i preventivt syfte tillämpa metoden exempelvis på kvinnor med hög risk för bröstcancer. Andra prioriterade tillämpningsområden är preventiv undersökning av prostata- och äggstockscancer.
