Forskningsbeskrivning

  • My research activity is based mainly in the Division of Clinical Geriatrics
    at Karolinska Institute but is enabled through a scientific collaboration
    between the Aging Research Center, ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡/Stockholm
    University, Stockholm, Sweden and the National Institute of Health and
    Welfare, Helsinki, Finland.
    My current research focuses on investigating different aspects of mental
    stimulation as a protective factor for dementia and Alzheimer's disease. My
    main focus has so far been using occupational complexity as a measure of
    life-time mental stimulation to see how it affects late-life cognition.
    Furthermore I'm conducting research on how previous mental stimulation
    affects the outcome of RCTs for cognitive decline. And the methodological
    challenges within RCTs that may arise from not accounting for
    characteristics like life-time mental stimulation.
