Avdelningen för Neuropediatrik

Forskningen är tvärvetenskaplig och griper över många olika områden från molekylärbiologi och genetik, över neurofysiologi och olika former av hjärnavbildning, till studier av funktioner, beteende, kliniska symtom behandling och delaktighet i samhället. En huvudinriktning är studier av motoriska och kognitiva funktioner med hjälp av moderna hjärnavbildningstekniker som magnet- och PET-kamera. Vi har också tillgång till ett välutrustat motoriklaboratorium för att studera

Movement, function and health

The research group is connected to the neuro-paediatric and orthopaedic clinics in Astrid Lindgren Children's Hospital. The group is multi-professional and put together by physiotherapists, orthopaedists, orthotists and biomechanists.

Pediatric Neuroimmunology and Epilepsy

The brain undergoes an enormous development during the fetal period and during the early childhood years. This is also a period in which injuries and diseases of the nervous system can have grave consequences for the child's future health. This is also true for children exposed to harmful substances.

Our research

We work to transfer research results and knowledge from clinical and ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ research to physiotherapy, occupational therapy, orthopedics and child neurology, as well as other health science fields of knowledge so that the knowledge will best benefit both children and adults.

The overall objective is to improve diagnostics, facilitate the choice of treatment method, evaluate the treatment outcome and ensure the quality of treatment for children and adults with disabilities.

We want to help explore and explain compensatory strategies and contribute to improved solutions and measures for the best possible participation by:

Combine, develop and improve methods that can provide answers to the various human movement functions
Improving function and reducing secondary consequences of the varying natural processes
Develop assessment instruments that measure the effects of training
Deepen knowledge about the impact of various factors, including joint contractures and spasticity, and how they work together
Investigate perceived pain and its impact on movement function
Evaluate effects of ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ treatment on gait function
